The fabric is then felted—subjected to intense compression, friction, and high temperatures—causing the fibers to bond tightly, giving the material a compact surface resistant to wind and cold.
The next step involves raising and shearing the nap, ensuring that the cloth for traditional garments achieves a smooth, dense texture while maintaining its strength. This carefully crafted fabric is perfect for sewing both historical and modern coats, jackets, and kaftans, offering exceptional durability and protection against harsh weather conditions.
Thick woolen cloth is an excellent choice as a tent fabric, providing natural protection against harsh weather conditions.
- Thanks to its outstanding insulating properties, wool for tents helps retain heat inside during cold days while also preventing excessive heat buildup in hot summer weather.
- Additionally, compared to many other materials, wool offers greater resistance to leakage, making it particularly useful in unpredictable weather conditions.
- At the same time, it maintains good breathability, preventing moisture buildup inside the tent.
However, it is important to note that thick woolen cloth is heavier than other tent materials and requires proper care, especially in humid environments where it may be prone to mold and decay. To ensure maximum durability, it is recommended to apply suitable waterproofing treatments to protect the fabric and extend its lifespan.
Note! It comes in two varieties: regular and impregnated. Impregnation with C6 preparation free from PFOA, PFOC and PFOS compounds. Please ask before buying, which of those two is available for this colour.

Grammage is a measure indicating the mass per unit area of a material, denoted in grams per square meter (g/m²).
For instance, if a fabric has a weight of 680 g/m², it signifies that one square meter of the fabric weighs 680 grams.
This measure holds significance as it enables the assessment of fabric density and weight. Generally, a higher fabric weight corresponds to greater density, thickness and heaviness.
It's crucial to note that diverse fabrics may have varying optimal weights based on their intended use. Fabrics with higher weights often boast increased durability, albeit with potential drawbacks of greater density and reduced breathability. Conversely, fabrics with lower weights tend to be lighter and more breathable but may sacrifice durability.
