Dupion is a type of silk fabric characterized by an irregular, raw structure and a slight shine. It is made of uneven, tangled threads, which gives it characteristic lumps. Dupion is valued for its durability, elegant appearance and slightly stiff texture, and it also has many advantages:

The lumps in dupion fabric are created by using silk threads that come from two silkworm cocoons that are entangled together.
When the silkworms spin their cocoons, some of them can accidentally entwine, creating threads of irregular thickness.
When these threads are woven into the material, these irregularities remain visible as characteristic lumps.
