Hand Woven Woolen Blanket Grey KOCR-05

155,00

HAND WOVEN blankets from HAND SPUN threads.

Hand-woven blankets made of hand-spun wool are a secret dream not only of every reenactor. They are extremely warm, thick and at the same time universal. Our thick wool blankets have one side brushed so the wool is not itchy, while on the other side you can see the weaving pattern perfectly.

They are perfect for any, not only camp, conditions: they can be used as a sleeping bag, they are suitable as a cold insulator at the campfire, and in a crisis situation they can even replace a coat.

What's more, they also perfectly coexist with us in the off-season: who doesn't dream of a warm tea and a pleasant rest under a blanket on an autumn-winter evening... And you? What is your task for them?

OTHER BLANKETS FROM THIS CATEGORY

Female hands holding a shuttle while manually weaving a blanket on horizontal looms. For thousands of years, mankind has obtained fabrics by manually spinning and weaving wool and vegetable fibers. That is why we meet the expectations of our customers and obtain materials and products that are manufactured as they were hundreds of years ago.

That is why we decided to introduce hand-woven blankets to our offer, which will suit every era and for home use.

If you want to learn more about it, check out our article about hand-woven blankets!

A man shearing a sheep with manual shears. The wool for our blankets comes from long-haired Carpathian sheep. Twice a year, the sheep are sheared and the wool is processed on site by local craftsmen. The shearing process is carried out as it was centuries ago: with manual shears, without excessive stress to the animals. Want to know more about how it's done? See photos and description of the process on our blog!

After collecting the wool, it is properly prepared: combed and carded. Then it is ready for further processing:

  1. First, it is spun by hand using spindles. Such a process takes a lot of time, which is why many women are involved in it at the same time!
  2. Some of the finished yarn is dyed. As a result, the blankets have colored stripes.
  3. After the wool is ready, it's time to weave the blanket: on our blog you will find a full description and photos of the process - click here!

Skeins of red wool drying together on strings with corn cobs.Carpathian sheep wool is naturally white, gray, brown or black. If you care about having an undyed blanket, you can choose completely white or with stripes in this colours. Other colors, such as red, orange, green or pink, are obtained in the dyeing process. You can read more about it on our blog in the post about creating a hand-woven blanket.

In addition to historical correctness (which is very important for reenactors), the undeniable advantages of hand-woven blankets include:

  • uniqueness - each blanket has a unique pattern of stripes,
  • good thermal insulation - wool is a natural thermoactive fiber,
  • vapor permeable fabric - sweat evaporates during sleep, because the plain weave is not too tight,
  • universality - hand-woven blankets are suitable for every historical era (from antiquity to modern times),
  • versatile - you can use them in any situation: from a sleeping bag to a coat.

Color Disclaimer

Buying fabrics online is always a challenge, we know you can’t see them in person before making a decision. And yet, choosing the right color is crucial for the overall look of your garment and its details.

That’s why at Woolsome we do our best to represent our fabrics as accurately as possible. We use a professional photography studio and a dedicated color control system to ensure that our photos reflect reality as closely as possible.

However, please keep in mind that colors may vary slightly depending on your screen. The way they appear can be affected by:

  • your monitor or phone settings,
  • lighting conditions (natural or artificial),
  • the angle at which you view the screen.

Shades of red are particularly difficult to reproduce accurately on digital displays.

You may also notice that the main photo (a close-up of the fabric) appears slightly darker than images taken from a greater distance. This is a natural effect: both cameras and the human eye perceive color differently depending on light and perspective.

Please also note that many of our historical fabrics are woven using threads in two different colors (warp and weft). Up close, their structure is clearly visible, while from a distance the colors visually blend, creating a slightly different overall impression.

We want you to feel confident in your choice.

That’s why you can always order a sample before committing to a larger purchase. We also offer complete sample sets for each of our fabric collections.

Warning

Our fabrics are made from 100% natural wool. As a result, washing at too high a temperature may cause shrinkage or felting. We recommend carefully following the washing instructions and washing wool in max temperature 30°C to preserve their natural structure and quality.
