Our collection of historical blankets is designed for both authenticity and functionality. We offer:

1. hand-woven, thick wool blankets that provide excellent warmth and comfort, historically accurate across many eras – from antiquity to the early modern period. These blankets are ideal for sleeping in historical camps or using as part of period-appropriate setups.
2. For reenactors and textile enthusiasts, we also offer plant-dyed blankets by oŻywione, made from fabrics belonging to the WCHT collection. These are based on archaeological finds and follow traditional dyeing methods.

Wondering how to care for a wool blanket?

Wool is one of those natural fibers that, thanks to its properties, is relatively easy to keep clean. It doesn’t easily absorb odors (and it’s also easy to air out) and resists everyday dirt. For regular cleaning, it’s usually enough to give your wool blanket a good shake and hang it outside to air. The best spot is a shaded area (so it doesn’t fade) with good airflow (so it freshens up faster). After such treatment, the blanket will regain its fluffiness and softness.

And how do you remove stains from a wool blanket? The best way is to wash it. Washing wool blankets is recommended only occasionally, but it’s fine to do so when they get dirty or after an entire season of attending various reenactment events. How to wash a wool blanket? In the washing machine, at 30°C, using the wool cycle. You can also choose the delicate program. The key is to use a program with a low temperature and gentle spin speed. After washing, it’s best to dry the blanket flat—this way, it will keep its shape and won’t stretch out.
