Extra-Wide Wool

When trying to recreate the Roman Toga, we run into a frequent issue. The toga was a very wide woolen garment, roughly 4 yards by 6 yards.

Romans were able to achieve this with incredibly wide looms. Today, we are forced to sew two pieces of fabric together, leaving a noticeable seam.

Consider a limited run of extra wide plain-weave wool.

This would be amazing for us Late Roman as well! They had very wide tunics in the 4th – 6th century!

This would also be magnificent for doing houppelandes. Just the ability to get a full length out of a single piece (without needing to piece the hem or do a wide guard at the bottom) would be beyond a dream!

Also good for Roman cloaks, wider than 4m, originally from one piece.
